- Following an interview Mr L Gowings appointed Secretary and
Treasurer on the basis of being paid a commission of 10% of gross rates
collected plus reasonable out of pocket expenses.
Account with Lloyds in the nameof 'Upton Park Propriators'
signatory L Gowings. (possible that L Gowings not a resident? but Edward Gowing
an attendee of meetings.
- references to Mr Sabine's garden fence 'along the avenue'.
- nuisance of Guy Dickson's cockerels crowing and letter asking him
to abate the nuisance.
- Letter from Dicksons Ltd regarding the need to lop trees in the Avenue.
This resulted in lopping even felling of trees, carried out by Dicksons
at cost of 16/6d per manday with total cost not exceeding £36.
- Resolved who should attend meetings - only the owner, or the husband
of an owner, of property on Upton Park Estate be allowed to attend and vote at
Proprietors meetings. Messrs Brook Hirst & Co were allowed to send a representative.
- Gerald Martyn,Solicitor, instructed to investigate the deeds (held
by Messrs Shone & Pritchard) to
Upton Park with a view to ascertaining the legal position of proprietors
and if necessary to obtain counsel's opinion on the matter.
- PostOffice requested to lay telephone cables underground rather than poles.
- In 1929 the Park rate now stated as 1shilling in the £. (does £ equate to 20sq yds.?)
- Special meeting called in 1929 - the paid Secretary resigns and new resolution to pay secretary £5 p.a. rather
than a %. All cheques to be signed by Chairman and secretary
- In 1929 an Executive committee replaces the sub-committee to oversee road maintenance.
