Rev Miles Hodgson Towers
of Upton Church
-various tenancies c1860 - c1885
When the Upton parish church was first consecrated in 1854 it was
a chapel-of-ease not becoming a parish with its own vicar until
1882.
During the later stages of this chapel-of-ease period
the curate-in-charge from St Mary-on-the-hill Chester
was Rev Miles Towers.
His earliest dated stay in the Park is recorded in the 1871 census with
the Horsfield family in no:84 - then aged 32yrs.
By the 1881 census he was in Westview (no:80) the home of the Smith
family. He is recorded as another family head and with his 17 year old niece
Mary Towers and a servant.
Indentures also record him as residing in no:3 but without
indication as to dates.
